Chabuca represents the musical culture of Peru. Great composer and poet, she left us an important legacy, kept for 50 years and recently revealed in the book edited by her family "Cantarureando Canterurias". Reading these wonderful manuscripts, I discovered a different Chabuca. Those poems full of love, nostalgia and sensitivity had to be known, considering it an obligation. I realized that music could bring them to life, and so "Chabuca Íntima" was born, an album with 13 poems set to music by great musicians of different nationalities. I had the privilege of knowing Chabuca and I always knew that she would have wanted her music to be danced to, so I decided to move away from the traditional and give freedom to the songs in different rhythms: Bolero, Chacarera, Landó por Bulerías, Flamenco, Huayno, Bossa, Zamacueca...For me, it has been a great experience and a challenge to take on the responsibility of choosing the poems, the rhythm and the musicians capable of unraveling the melody hidden in each lyric. This album is a tribute to Chabuca Granda, for whom I always felt great admiration and eternal gratitude for all that she left us.
