The importance of healthy eating

Health & Wellness

All cultures and all religions have a way of looking at life and therefore to feed. It does not mean that one is better than the other, what is sought is that there is a balance between what one ingests and what one spends so that one is well fed and always look for these foods to be healthy.

I do not like to talk about diets, I like to think about eating healthy, and what is healthy eating?

Read a magazine, look for a book and decide to change your diet is not eating healthy, the other day I started reading one of these fashion magazines and I was surprised that now many girls and guys decide to make a drastic change in their diet and therefore feel different, healthy and fashionable. The example of this 22 year old girl with a 3 year old son who decided to turn him vegan generated a lot of sorrow and anger in me. Pity because the interview was directed to the fact that it was super cool and fashionable to be vegan, and anger because the girl without going to a specialist decided it was good for her son because she feels sorry for animals and the fashion book told her it was the best for the planet.

If we put ourselves in the case of a child of that age, being vegan is something very serious, you can not stop giving animal proteins from one day to another because it is in all its growth stage. Things are not that easy, you have to always look for a nutrition specialist if you are looking to eat healthy.

Eating healthy is to be aware that the foods we have are the best for you. I look for my patients to learn to eat on their own, that they do not depend on me forever, that wherever they are they can know what to eat and feel confident that they are doing things right.

A healthy diet is one that has all the food groups in a balanced way. The ideal for an average person is to eat 50% carbohydrates (potato, sweet potato, corn, cassava, quinoa, etc) 30% fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts, almonds, etc) and 20% protein (fish, chicken, dairy, egg, meat , etc.), one can not stop eating carbohydrates just because, even less if you are an athlete, as these are what will give you the energy of the day, you can not stop eating protein if you want to be a vegetarian without advice because you can have many deficiencies including vitamin B12.
